1:1 Dartmoor Landscape Photography Workshop Book Now

1 to 1 Photography Workshop Details

One-to-one workshops are designed with the individual in mind. Books, Groups Workshops and evening classes are a great way to learn and gain experience. But if you want to put your development as a photographer and artist on the fast track then a one-to-one workshop will quickly put you on the right course.
One to One Workshops are tailored to your individual needs. You can purchase a voucher to redeem against your 1:1 Workshop on the Dartmoor National Park, and I will contact you to arrange a mutually agreeable weekend date.
As a One to One workshop is very individual I encourage you to contact me with your specific needs. I can travel to alternative locations, this could incur additional travel costs.

  • We all learn best in different ways and best in different settings. Some gain more from participating in a group and learning from the collective experiences of others guided by the workshop leader. But not all - some people just don’t feel at ease or confident enough to come forward in a group and speak out, contribute or ask questions.

If this is you, then you need a One to One Workshop.

Before the workshop, by answering a few basic questions I can plan a day which will cover what you want to gain more insight to or learn. During the workshop we will talk about photography giving me even more insight to what will help you the most and as the day progress I will cover where possible any developing themes or areas of concern.

I have taken out photographers of all abilities, some with no experience with a camera, those returning to photography, transitioning from film to digital. Photographers with varying degrees of experience looking to extend their knowledge of Landscape Photography, looking for new locations, and simply trying to rekindle their love for the art.

Whatever you need I would welcome the chance to help.

  • I have been running workshops for over 10 years. And have also delivered in excess of 100 lectures, in person and online, nationally and internationally, gaining new skills and insight into photography.

I Have enjoyed leading workshops with photographers of all abilities, passing on my knowledge, passion and skills regardless of age or ability, using a style that suits them. Some people learn better by trial and error and need time to make mistakes and ask for advice, while others simply want a demonstration. I have taken novice photographers with their first camera, having no knowledge but progressing to understand and use basic photographic theory and camera controls by the end of the workshop. I have also worked with experienced photographers whose work has grown a little stale, looking to reignite that passion and find a fresh way to look at the subjects and world around them.

I am a self-taught outdoor and landscape photographer. I have been learning the art and craft of photography for over 35 years and continue to polish those skill every time I go out. During that time, I have worked with both film and digital cameras (Canon, Nikon, Sony), and printed Black & White and Colour in my own "wet" darkroom.

I have been published and featured online by:

    Light and Landscape,

    F-Stoppers,

    On Landscape

    Shutterbug.

Have Lectured OnLine for the RPS.
And lecture Regularly for National and International Photographic Societies and clubs.

I am as passionate about shaing my photographing and passing on my Knowledge, passion and skills as I am about producing my own work.

  • The biggest advantage with a One to One workshop is that you get to decide what is covered. By being open and honest in explaining what level of experience and what concerns you have I can plan a day to encompass these needs.

The workshop often evolves during the day as we talk and practice photography, I keep things fluid and adaptable, so we modify the content to plug gaps before moving forward, or skip elements that are not needed so that you can go deeper into some subjects.

The list of topics is extensive and depends on what you need, we may cover some or none from the following. It’s entirely up to you.

    Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO

    Lens selection: depth of field,
sharpness, and focal length

    Equipment: tripods and filters
Composition: ideas

Subjects: the big landscape, close-up and intimate scenes, water, woodland, and moorland

Creativity and connecting with your subject

I guarantee is honesty, If I don’t feel my workshop is a good match for you I will tell you.

  • The most important thing you need to bring is a bit of passion, and a few essential items.

    Essential:

SLR or mirrorless camera (including lens)

  • Hi Brian,
I just wanted to thank you for yesterday, I had a really great day and learned so much, Thankyou. As I said it was exactly what I was looking for and has really helped me think about my photography and composition.
    Best regards Mitch

    Dear Brian,
I really enjoyed the workshop. The reason why I chose this one is because he organised a practical course. I enjoyed both walking in Dartmoor (with beautiful scenery) and learning from Brian in making pictures with different techniques. It was really nice speaking about the theory during our walking. So I done the first of the three workshops, after improving my photo skills I'm going back to book the second and the third for sure.
    Rgds, Isabella

Very informative. A great help. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back for workshop number 2.” JC
